WHAT IS A NUB?
The Orbiting Nubs are a six-man adventure into Aggressive Rock/metal, Bootsy-Funk, Surf-punk, and a bit of Jazz all neatly wrapped into an orchestrated package of psychedelic energy. The Nubs strive to rise above the norm and deliver high-energy music and a stage show you wont soon forget. By the bands own admission it’s difficult to classify them in just one genera. Influenced by everything, there are no boundaries set by these guys.
CONTENT
The Orbiting Nubs cover a variety of topics from satirical songs dealing with all kinds of relationships to songs about getting beat down and rising back up again. Mostly it’s a look at human nature, sex, drugs, fame, fantasy and misfortune.
The band tends to make light of dark subject matter with the intent of having the listener think a little about what’s being said.
CONCEPTION:
The Orbiting nubs were brought to life by Luke D. He recruited Guitarist Eddie & Sax player Aaron to get the creative juices flowing. These three once played in the Denver Ska/funk favorite, Furious George and the Monster Groove.
During the embryonic stages Luke was in contact with high school friend and drummer Marc Mariano who was performing and living in southern California. Luke made arrangements to travel to California to record some tracks at Marc’s roommate’s studio.
When Luke arrived in California he was introduced to Bart & Igor who recorded the sessions for The Nubs first demo. One thing led to another and the three were soon transplanted back to Denver CO. where the Orbiting Nubs line up was completed.
CREATION:
The Orbiting Nubs released their first LP. An Epiphany of Greatest Hits In the Summer of 2002 with a positive response from the Denver community.
At this time the band was not yet a live act but a studio band, which was actually a side project for most of its members. However, it was soon apparent that they had a good thing going and the band has since stepped out and played some live shows.
The Orbiting Nubs have release their second coming entitled "Deep Inside". This recording features 14 tracks of groove oriented aggressive music that must be heard to understand.
